The Libertines have cancelled their London headline show at the last minute, citing a ‘medical situation’ as the reason behind the postponement.
The gig at Camden’s Electric Ballroom was part of the reunited band’s intimate club tour that has been taking place this week, in the run up to the release of their third album ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth’. The band were due on stage at 9:15 pm but failed to show.
Fans became increasingly restless as the night wore on, booing every time there was a lull in the music being played through the venue’s PA. Eventually, at around 11:30 pm, an announcement was made confirming the show was to be postponed.
“Due to an emergency – a medical situation – tonight’s show is being postponed,” a spokesperson told the unhappy crowd, who began throwing pint cups at the empty stage. “I say postponed because I mean postponed, not cancelled. A new date will be released tomorrow.”
The Libertines london are scheduled to play Manchester Ritz tomorrow (September 11).
